Introduction

Can Glamorgan Roar Back Into T20 Blast Contention in 2026?

The Glamorgan squad 2026 arrives with fresh energy and real ambition. Back in County Championship Division One for the first time since 2005, the Welsh county is buzzing. The T20 Blast 2026 represents a massive opportunity to finally return to the knockout stage.

The Glamorgan team 2026 has not reached the T20 Blast quarter-finals since 2017. That nearly decade-long wait ends this summer if Fazalhaq Farooqi’s raw pace, Colin Ingram’s experience, and a refreshed batting lineup deliver results at Sophia Gardens.

The T20 Blast 2026 Glamorgan squad competes in the Central Group alongside Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. They also face Lancashire at Blackpool and host Middlesex in cross-group games. Cardiff in summer T20 cricket is a special experience.

About The Club

Team Overview

Glamorgan County Cricket Club was founded in 1888 and is the only first-class cricket club in Wales. They gained first-class status in 1921 and play home matches at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff — a beautiful ground on the banks of the River Taff that has hosted Test matches, ODIs, and international women’s cricket.

In T20 cricket, Glamorgan compete simply as Glamorgan. In the T20 Blast 2026 they are placed in Central Group B alongside Gloucestershire, Northamptonshire Steelbacks, Somerset, Warwickshire Bears, and Worcestershire Rapids. Their cross-group opponents are Middlesex (home) and Lancashire Lightning (away at Blackpool).

Head coach Richard Dawson is in his second season at the club after signing a three-year extension in 2025. Former Australian all-rounder Ian Harvey joined full-time as assistant coach. With a first-ever Afghanistan overseas player in Fazalhaq Farooqi and the class of Colin Ingram, the Glamorgan squad 2026 feels genuinely competitive in T20 cricket.

Fazalhaq Farooqi
Overseas · Afghanistan · Left-Arm Fast

Farooqi is Glamorgan’s biggest overseas signing. He was the joint-highest wicket-taker at the 2024 T20 World Cup — one of cricket’s most prestigious tournaments. His lethal left-arm swing in the powerplay and precision at the death make him one of the most dangerous T20 bowlers on the planet. This is the first time an Afghan player has represented Glamorgan.

Ingram has been a Glamorgan stalwart and one of the best overseas T20 batters in county cricket. Now 40, he scored a century on his first-class return in Glamorgan’s Division One opener against Yorkshire in 2026 — proof his form and hunger remain strong. His T20 power-hitting at the top and middle order is a genuine asset at Sophia Gardens.

Crane is a high-quality leg-spinner who has worked hard to rebuild his career at Glamorgan after injury. He showed his quality in the 2026 County Championship opener against Yorkshire, taking multiple wickets and impressing on a tricky pitch. In T20 cricket, his loop, drift, and turn make him a genuine match-winner in the middle overs.
